Emergency Appointments

If a problem is urgent, we will try to see you on the same day. You will be fitted in as soon as possible or asked to come back later. Please be patient if you have to wait. You must telephone before arriving at the surgery, as we do not offer any walk-in appointments.

Please make a separate appointment for each member of your family you wish to be seen. This allows us to allocate time for each person without keeping our other patients waiting.

Help us to Help you

  • Please Remember To Cancel Your Appointment If You Are Unable To Attend. We Can Then Offer That Appointment To Another Patient. Due to unfortunately high numbers of missed appointments it has been necessary to implement the following policy:
    • If you fail to attend for 3 appointments without letting us know prior to the appointment time you may be removed from the Practice list and will have to find an alternative Doctor.
  • Please see only one Doctor during any particular illness.
  • Telephone Appointments If a telephone conversation with your Doctor will suffice please telephone the Surgery before 10:30am to arrange a call back by the Doctor after morning surgery.

Appointments are usually for ten minutes unless it is for Minor Surgery or a Medical Examination, which takes longer. Please inform the Receptionist if this is the case.

Routine Appointments

If you need to book a routine follow-up appointment with a particular GP you can make an appointment up to two weeks in advance. Please phone after 10.30am to avoid busy times. Many routine appointments are for patients who have a long-term or chronic condition that needs monitoring on a regular basis. If this time is not convenient, please telephone reception to re-arrange it. It is important to continue your regular check-ups, even if you are feeling well. Routine appointments are available during normal surgery hours with the practice nurse and/or doctor.

Same Day Appointments

We are a busy practice, and providing some same day appointments makes it easier for you to see a doctor quickly. 25% of our GP appointments are same day appointments. You can phone from 8:00am for same day appointments, but they are offered on a ‘first come, first served’ basis.

Why it might be difficult to get an appointment

The surgery is particularly busy on Mondays and Tuesdays, especially during the winter months. If your appointment is not urgent, try to book on a less busy day after 10:30am. In most months 60 – 80 appointments are not attended, but also not cancelled either. If you let us know as soon as possible you can’t attend your appointment, we can then make it available for another patient.
